Plan Your Visit

What to Expect

What to wear: Dress is SoCal casual (flip flops and shorts in summer), if you’re clean and not smelly, you’re all good

Getting there: There are two parking lots, and the church building is between them, but be aware that the church is hidden behind other buildings, and can’t be seen from Foothill Blvd. Enter one of three ways:

  • From WESTBOUND Foothill: Turn left onto Commonwealth and immediately right into the parking lot; drive forward to park near the church building

  • From EASTBOUND Foothill: Turn right after Fashion Cleaners

  • From Beulah: Turn left immediately south of Foothill, across from the entrance to Sprouts parking lot; drive all the way through the alley to the church’s parking lot

Is the church accessible?

Yes; the one tricky thing is that the only ADA restroom (for now, we’re working on this) is off the back hallway of the church interior, so you have to go out and around to get to it.

Will it be super creepy, with people trying to take my money and make me drink their weird cult’s Kool-Aid?

Nope. It’s safe. Normal people, just like you.

(A collection plate is passed, but the money goes to the L.A. Foodbank)

What to Do

During the service

  • Follow along in the bulletin; participate as much or as little as you want

  • Same thing for the group discussion: Jump in with a question or comment if you want, or just listen

What about kids?

There’s no special program for kids, they stay in church; but there’s a creative table where they can write, draw or color; soft blocks for little ones to play with on the rug; and books to read in one of the comfy chairs.

Is there communion?

  • Yes, almost every Sunday

  • It’s real bread (naan from Trader Joe’s, actually) and wine; gluten-free rice crackers available on request

  • Everyone can receive, you don’t have to be a member of the church or anything

After the service

People hang out on the patio for coffee, goodies and chatting, for 15-20 minutes

As you enter the church

  • Pick up a bulletin (program) from the table right across from the entry doors — worship is participatory, so use this to follow along, and know what to do/say

  • If you wish, you can also fill out a personal space color-coded name tag — red if you don’t want to be touched; yellow if you want to touch others first; green if you’re fine with strangers shaking your hand

  • Grab a cup of coffee, if you want, on the right side of the room as you come in, and take it to your seat
